My husband just brought me home a beautiful Anthurium plant from Home depot. I know nothing about them and also need to re-pot into a permanent pot.
Any help or web links on this plant would be appreciated.

Hi Sgange,

You can do a search at www.google.com and put in quotes the botanical name. Best if you have the full name. You can also click on 'Images' and see if you can find a picture of the one you have.

To repot, use a good quality potting soil. If the current pot is less than 6", use a pot that is one inch larger. If the pot is 6" or larger, use a pot that is 2" larger. You can measure from the bottom to the top of the pot for the size.

Enjoy your lovely gift. My hubby brings me plants all the time and I just love them!

Hi sgange,

I did a little searching & as Newt pointed out there are a lot of these Anthuriums. I found 36, & without you spoting the plant by is looks, you won't get the latin name.

I would try another search engine besides Google, maybe Webferret or Msn as I only got 4 hits that had anything.

Most of the varieties grow south of Mexico in the Jungles & savannas. Is your flowering yet? If not the foilage is unique enough to classify the plant.

Good luck on your search & the plants are very interesting & unique.

Hi Marturo,

I tried Webferret and only got that the domain name was for sale. Any ideas?

Newt, this is about all I could find with Pics, & growing conditions.

Here is one link that will at least define the growing needs of the plant. Perhaps she can call the company who supplies Lowes with the plants, if Lowes even knows where the plant came from.

This link will provide some leads, but without the true name we would just be guessing.

Marturo,
Sorry I didn't make it clear. I was just trying to find out about Webferret. I can't find it to use as a search engine. I just love google, but would like to have another. Thanks so much.

Sorry Newt, I must need more oxygen LOL :)

I have three links. Both Google & Webferret are Spyware. True of most, not all Freeware programs.

They both Track your searching habits then sell it.

The last is a download for WebFerret. It is good, but you get the freeware version, by letting them track you as you search.

The top 2 links are the story of Google & the Proxy Google search engine replacement, just make a shortcut to your desktop with the Proxy Google, & get rid of the old Spyware Google shortcut, that most of us use.

Proxy Google has proven that it is not Spyware, by not tracking me. Who needs to be tracked? It seems everybodys selling our names & IP addresses. I have been using Spy Blocker with good results.

http://www.gibson.org Is a good place to go, to rid the spyware on your PC, & to prevent it from being put there again.

A good site to keep that sludge known as Spyware out of your PC, & from slowing your PC down & causing crashes.
