I am working on a Sylvania 46” RSL430 RPTV (1991). The blue color is missing when I first turn it on. After it’s been on for a while the blue CRT comes on and the picture has all the colors, and it is near perfect. Do you know if the CRT boards are interchangeable? I have lost the blue completely now with the convergence all of of whack I wonder if I should check the voltages on that board?
Thnx for your help.

rjohntoby, Check your voltage reads at the crt socket. If low remove socket and check again. The power supply module should be a #704978-3 (NAP#483521967026). Check and see if thats the right number(the first number, will be on a white sticker on the module).

I resoldered the video output transistor on the blue CRT panel and checked the voltages……… no surprises. I can turn the blue CRT on, but I have to turn the Blue G2 control all the way up. The red and green have a wide range but the blue has to be @ max. I can see the video in both the red and green tubes but can’t see any video in the blue. I had a “TV tech” look at the set, that services PTV’s and he told me that the coolant was too cloudy for the video pass through??????
I suspect the HV Focus/G2 combo is the culprit. I called Philips but you have to have an account with them in order to buy parts. Is there any way I can check to verify that the voltages are correct coming off the block. I have the service manual but it is next to useless, it doesn’t give any voltages.
Thx for the help.

Seeing how this set is over 10 years old and coolant is now giving you a problem in that one tube, replace the coolant. Compare your reads from one of the other tubes to the blue. Remove the board if its low and recheck. The safe way to check the high voltage is to use an h.v. probe. If the coolant is bad it will minimize your screen output.

Update no blue: The video output transistor on the CRT board was open between base and emitter. Replaced it with a ECG171
Picture looks better now then it ever has.
PTS does not service this board. How do I order parts from Philips?
I changed the coolant and ready to do a final convergence. Freddy thanks for your help.

I am having a problem with the focus. I could improve on the convergence, but just looking at one color at a time it’s not as sharp as it should be. HV and focus voltages seem to be okay, am I missing something?
Thanks for the feedback on where to but parts.

How much focus voltage are you getting for the hv block?
What did you use to remove the old fluid from the crt's?

I'm not sure what the voltage is. I have a good bright picture I disasembled the crt asm. and cleaned with water and a cap full of ammonia then rinsed with clear water and let air dry. I need a 800 meg. HV resistor for my HV probe.
thx
