I have read all the stuff on this site about installing another jack. I don't have a existing near this one to tap into so i used a hole already created for cable wire and ran the telphone wire thru to the nid. I only have one line at my house, so i just connected red and green but the new jack didn't work. In fact when i connected the new one, all the other phones didn't work either.
The NId box has 2-6 wire-wires coming into my side. It splices the red and green wires from both wires and then they are connected to the red and green screw. The wires origiinally there didn't used the yellow black, blue or white ones.
I just connected my red and green to the screws along with the existing ones.
Did i do something wrong? Help. I feel stupid.
fyi: each of my existing phone jacks has 2 wires coming into it, and has hooked up 2 reds and 2greens spliced together.

Recheck all your connections including at the jack; you've got some crossed or misconnected wires somewhere. Here's some additional help:

Yep, I would have to agree. If all your phones went dead, then you either crossed your red/green wires (resulting in an open line) or you messed up your connection at the Demark.
Sorry, try again.
