We have a 13 year old Oak wood floor, 6" parquet tiles that needs refinishing. What tips on sanding can you give me? Grit, Directions, Drum vs Orbital Sanders, etc.
Thanks in advance for any good advice you can give.

I would recomend that you call a pro when it comes to refinishing parquet. Speaking from experience it can be done but much care needs to be taken because of the sandable surface is very minute you will run the risk of taking off to much and start revealing the t&g and when that happens the only remedy is replacement.

check out the refinishing section of my web site and you will see a parquet restoration.

It doesn't look like woodfloorsonline gives a very good idea of how to sand a parquet floor. Actually they link from nofma.org which still doesn't provide much information for anyone. This is all I found...
SANDING PARQUET, BLOCK AND SIMILAR PATTERNED FLOORING - Use the drum sander and edger for two sanding cuts. With the first cut do not sand directly across or with the pattern but always on an angle. Start the first sanding cut diagonal to the grain using a medium grit sandpaper. Then use fine grit sandpaper for the second cut on the opposite diagonal. Use the buffer and screen or disc to make a final fine cut with the room's longest dimension. (See Figure 7.) (A coarse first cut is usually not necessary.)
Too bad I can't include the image...but anyway I'd take Philly's advice on this one. For more on sanding hardwood floors try the real link instead of searching around the site mentioned.
