hello, i have an old growth grape vine not sure if muscadine or scuppernong(sp?) it about 30' long and has 2 roots about 8 in. in diameter. very overgrown into itself. its on runners of heavy wire and between steel posts that are pretty well anchored. i really like the grapevine and the grapes are sweet. but this vine needs to be pruned and cared for, to really bear i think. and i dont have a clue how or when or with what to do it  any advice will be great...

Hi John

Have you looked up top in the garden links yet? If you don't find an answer there, try a search on www.google.com for Growing Grapes, Grapes, or pruning grape vines.

The more simple you keep your search, the more focused your answers will be.

If all else fails, repost in your same post tommorow & my Wife who is asleep now, was raised on a 200 + year old grape farm, will more than likely have a good answer.
