Any ideas on the best way to keep the cats from sharpening their claws on the sofa??

Many cat owners opt to keep cats indoors and have them declawed. Others opt to provide them with a scratching post of their own and train them to stay away from upholstery through the use of pet repellents and a spray bottle of water.
Perhaps pushing pulled threads back into the fabric with a darning needle may make the damage to upholstery less obvious.
