I am looking for plans for portable wooden case for sighting in and maintenance on a variety of rifles. I am sure i have seen them somewhere but as feeble minds go, I have forgotten were.

Hi,
You might try looking in the guns section of your local library to see if they might have something for you. If you are handy enough you could go to some gun shops and look at their range boxes, jot down some ideas and go home and draw up your own custom box. I have a pretty good collection of woodwoking magazines and books, but I don't recall ever seeing any plans for gun range or maintenance boxes. If you have a router or a table saw, finger joints for a box are fairly easy make and make a good looking box. The wooden ammunition boxes ( if they still make them ) might be a way for you to make up something.
