We're planning on hanging a tab top curtain valance over a 71" W x 71" L window. We've seen pictures where the curtain rod is hung about 2"- 4" above the window frame. Other pictures show the rod hung level with the frame. Is there a rule of thumb for this or is it a matter of preference? Also, when purchasing curtains are the tab tops included in the length? Thank you!

Position the pole high enough above the window to prevent light appearing between the pole and the tab tops.
For tab top curtains measure from the top of the pole to required finished length. Deduct length of tabs (approx. 3") as top of curtain must come above top of window frame. (This may mean moving the pole.)
