Outdoor Power Equipment and Small Engines - wood chipper question

Have sort of a strange question for anyone familiar with wood hippers.
Just got a Craftsman 8hp chipper/shredder and want to know if it would be capable the chip walnuts?
I know that this must sound strange but I have a tree that likes to dump millions of walnuts every other year and are a real pain.
Just would like to get full use out of this thing.
Or would I be better useing as a batting machine first

I cannot answer your question with full certainty. I know that walnut shells are very dense, and the nut itself is small. I don't know if this would tend to jam the machine or not. Aren't there places around that buy walnuts? In my town, there are a few places that buy nuts from anyone who has them to sell...in any quantity. I sometimes get 95 cents a pound for pecans. Maybe you could make some cash rather than grinding them up. Otherwise, maybe someone will post a more informative answer. :) Does the owners' manual mention anything about grinding small hard objects?

Don't shred em sell em. We Brits love walnuts. From what I have seen in the UK chipper market I can't see any problem with putting then through your machine. Eight horse should make short work of that job. Besides try it, I can't see any harm being done with a few Walnuts. Hope this helps see you.
