I am in the process of painting a wood floor. It had alot of black glue damage from a previous owner who glued the linoleum to the wood floor! I am using a porch/floor paint. Do I need to put a sealant over the final paint coat? If so, what type of sealant do I need? The floor is in my kitchen.
Thanks!

Why wouldn't you use a polyurethane sealant as you would do if you had stained the floor?

Neither paint nor (poly over paint) is going to hold up to constant floor traffic in a kitchen.

Remember, too, that oil-base poly is going to yellow.

Given that you are using a good quality floor paint, you should get as much service out of it as you would in any case without adding a layer of polyurethane. If you add the poly, any damage will be difficult to repair neatly. With the paint, you could just recoat as you would with trim or any other wood.

One thing that might help with the durability of the floor would be to wax it as you would a stained, finished floor. The wax will take some of the beating and is easy to renew.
