I have a 20+ year old gas furnance. Not that it is finally getting chilly in Texas, I tried to get the furnance set up. The pilot light is lit and stays on. I couldn't get the fan to run so I replaced the thermostat. Fan now runs. I set the temperature high to the furnance but the burners would not light. The thermosat I bought is a Honeywell. I matched the wires however there are two posts for the red wire. One says 'R' and the other says "Rc" They are next to each other. Can you give me any idea why I cannot get the burners to light and the furnance to work.

Thanks,

Connect the red wire to R and Rc if the furnace fan also provides air for the air conditoning. If the air conditioner has a separated fan, it gets more complicated.
