Hey Tom,
Getting chilly here in Philly. Turned on the Rheem 80 plus upflow home heating gas furnace, equipped with induced draft blower and electric ignition (Robertshaw). Problem is draft blower starts, pilot lights for 30 seconds and interior burners light for 5 seconds then shuts down but motor continues to run. Can you help us out here?
Thanks,
jt

is not sensing flame most likely. it is a rod with one wire hooked to it that sits in the flame to the left side of the burners. remove and clean it with steel wool, very lightly. if this fixes it, be prepared to replace it as cleaning it will not last too long in my experience

Hello: jt
The assumption here is your referring to the blower fan motor and not the induction fan motor on the vent flu. If that's correct, check for a dirty air filter. The burners may be cycling to prevent overheating the firebox.
Another possibility could be a dirty flame senser element. Cleaning it with some steel wool or fine grit sand paper may resolve the problem.
Check the ground wire to the module and the flame senser. Corrosion may be present even if not visable. Remove the grounding wire, clean the terminal end and the surface it connects to and re-attach. Do likewise for the sensers wire end.
Several other resident heating professionals replying within this forum, could have additional helpful information, suggestions and or advice.
If you need further assistance or the above does not resolve the problem, use the REPLY button to add any additional information or questions, etc. Using this method also moves the topic back up to the top of the list automatically.
