I have just finished a "bonus room" over my garage. It is about 400 sq. ft., insulated, 2 - 12 sq. ft. sunny windows, and 1 entry door from conditioned space. I have space above the ceiling and behind knee walls on two sides of the room. This room is very high off the ground as garage has 16 ft ceiling. My question is: Is there a a/c - heating unit that contains both compressor and air handler in one unit that I could mount either above ceiling or behind knee walls with minimal ducting. I realize I will probably need and outside air source which won't really be a problem, but I wanted to avoid an outside compressor and all the labor intensive running of lines in an existing structure. Also, would a 1 1/2 ton unit be sufficient.
Thanks

http:/www.mrslim.com this is a site for a ductless split heat pump. It is the only one I know has a variable speed compressor. No need for ducts as the name implies. You can have them in different sizes and split them if you want. Meaning to say, you can have one on each side of the room, doesn't matter which side, with only one compressor unit outside. This unit comes with all the bells and whistles, recess ceiling units, wall units, remote controls, programmability, smart house compatible and more. Best environmentally friendly unit out there, brush, vacuum, disinfect inside (evaporator) coil and you're done. On top of all that, it is less expensive than a duct system and easier and faster to install. Because of not having ducts, is more energy efficient.
