What would be the best way to put a concrete patio in for a hot tub? The patio will be about 20 ft long 12 feet wide. The 6 person hot tub will sit in one of the corners. Do you have to put footings in? How thick should it be poored? This is all new to me, please help.

Sundell,

The question lacks some information to answer.

Are we talking about a concrete patio or wood deck?

If wood deck, how far off grade?

A little more info would help to provide a more knowledgable answer to help you.

Waiting for a reply.

Patios are generally poured 3-1/2" to 4" thick and do not have a footing, assuming it is being poured on a fairly level grade. This would work fine for a hot tub. The weather conditions it will be exposed to and the type of soil it sits on will have a lot of bearing on any special treatments you need to incorporate. As a minimum, it should have 4" of base (rock) under the concrete, the finer the better. It should be sloped an inch in ten feet AWAY from the house to facilitate water runoff. And, at 20' long, it should have 2 control joints put in it. These would be in about 6-1/2 to 7 feet from each edge.
