I purchased a king-size headboard & footboard in Mexico recently. While attempting to connect these to my bed frame I have found that the headboard is 93" wide. The bed frame just rolls in between the two huge posts. It needs to lose 5 inches on each side in order for the bed frame to be attached. It is very heavy and handcarved. Is it possible to have someone cut away the middle portion from the huge bed posts, cut off 5 inches from each side and re-attach? I am at loss on ideas and feel extremely stupid for not measuring before purchasing. Returning is not an option since I purchased out of the country.

Perhaps you can locate a local furniture builder/woodworker to make the modifications for you.
