Under hardwood floors; is there a functional difference between using felt paper, or using resin paper? If so, what is the difference? Which is better?

I've seen both used, but I believe that rosin paper is traditionally the item of choice. Its purpose to to help minimize squeeking.

#15 felt has been is the preferred choice from the guys that put together the specs from The National Wood Flooring Association. Rosin paper actually originated as a method to reduce plaster dust from spewing all over when hardwood floors were installed.
