I'm assuming that you have metal storm windows? If so, what you want to do is measure the metal frame that holds your storm window to the house. From the outside, you want to measure this metal frame from side to side and then from top to bottom. This job would be even easier if you can remove the storm window (windows and frame) from your house. To do this, just remove the storm glass and screen accessing both from inside the house. Then, go outside and remove the metal frame by removing the screws holding it in place. The frame may be caulked in so run a razor knife along the caulk to break the bond. Go to a corner of the frame and give it a pull. Eventually it will work loose. Once out, measure the frame in the manner mentioned above. If you have any second story windows you might want to restrict this job to someone who is comfortable on a ladder.
