My old house's basement is being partially finished, mainly as a child play area. I am considering putting insulation above the drywall ceiling to serve as a sound barrier. Is this a good idea? Are there any drawbacks to doing this? Any installation tips would be appreciated, as well.

This is a great idea. It will also help keep your upstairs floor warmer also.
