i just put an extension on my house. i need to know what brand primer is best for new drywall. It is a large area and i don't want to have any paint problems

PVA Primer is used for bare sheetrock. It is like a diluted Elmer's white glue. It seals the paper and taping joints to provide a uniform surface for finish coat.

IMHO, brand does not matter.

I prefer either kilz or zinnser brands. I've used both, in both latex and oil versions, and have never had a problem.

Brands do matter. A cheap brand may or may not do the job. You pays your money you takes your chances with cheap primers.
