Is there a standard calculation for estimating interior painting costs? Some sort of dollar per sq. foot estimate? I would love to be able to plan how much I need to spend per room.

I have not come across anything that will give you a concrete answer. I have found that the only true way is to determine the dimensions of your room, and then go to the store and price it by the can. As for thickness, I think that depends on the amount of coverage, your base, as well as personal preference. Hope this helps.

Hi lukafer, I'm Painting Contractor for 10 years. There is not rule for price in a painting job. Price it depends, area, city, quality of job, materials, colors, prep job, new or old building, etc. I'm not sure if you are a painter or home owner. But if you want a clue, think how much time you will spend do this the job. Average painters charge between $10 to $20 by hours. If you have any question, let me know, OK? good luck... Fer
