I have an interior brick wall. The bricks have a fairly smooth surface, but have extremely deep mortar joints.
I would like to paint this wall with a crackle or sponge finish.
Is this possible? Any better painting ideas other than a single color?
Thanks

I suppose you could apply such a finish. However, you'll probably need to apply multiple coats with a paint that's appropriate for masonry surfaces. It will be slow going since getting into the mortal joints will have to be done with a brush - unless you have a good sprayer. What I would do is apply two or three coats of a single color until the bricks are well covered creating, in effect, a canvas for the final sponge coat. You may want to use a brush for the mortal joints and a roller for the brick itself.

Thanks so much for the response.
Sounds as though you are saying the same thing I thought... I have a tough job ahead of me. I know I have a lot of brushwork to do. I am still debating .....
Thanks again.
