I have a 10 year old RCA model P46130WK big screen TV. While watching it last night the picture went out I heard some beeping, and I smelled something burning on the inside. The burning smell was very strong. I thought I had some kind of electirical short in my socket. But the socket was fine, since I was able to plug my VCR in the outlet and it worked fine. When I pressed the power button on the front of the panel, the LED flickered and tried to come on, but the beeping sound from within set started up with each flicker of the LED power button. I kept the TV unploged over night and tried to turn it on in the morning but the same thing happened. The LED power button light flickered once or twice with some beeping noise from within the set. Then nothing. Could something be burned out? I'm having a repair man come on Tuesday. Has anyone had this type of problem with their big screen and if so, how much did it cost to fix. I have no idea how long big screens are supposed to last. I have a 19" TV in a guest room that I bought in 1981 and it is still running fine.

chastv, There are two things that come to mind: The high voltage splitter block and the flyback transformer. Both can give a very fowl smell when the diodes inside short and the voltage inside burns a hole the casing.
