I was cleaning a spot on my fabric sofa & when it dried a water spot w/ring appeared making it look worse. Does anybody have a solution to get rid of the ring??

Thank You

Upholstery care labels are W for water-based cleaners, S for solvent cleaners, W-S for either water or solvent, and X for vacuum only. Water based cleaners will leave watermarks on fabrics that require solvent cleaners. You might try using denatured alcohol or dry cleaning fluid. Read and follow directions carefully. Always test any home remedy in inconspicuous spot before using. Always blot from outside the stain toward the middle to prevent spreading. If in doubt, call a professional upholstery cleaner.

Hi,

Thanks for giving me the tip on alcohol. It got me to think how I get the ink stains off my husbands shirts - saturating with regular alcohol (before laundering which sets stains) and continuous blotting. I tried it on the water ring too and you could see the stain spreading but with continuous blotting it disappeared and the stain was gone!! :)

Thanks for the success story. Rubbing alcohol is the mildest household solvent that most of us have on hand. It comes in handy for lots of cleaning problems. Besides using it to keep my spectacles clean, it puts a shine on appliances, counters, chrome, and stainless steel.
