I have aquired a building that has old brick hidden behing sheetrock and I have exposed them. The mortar between some of them is powder. Is ther some type of sealant (clear) that I can spray these brick with to keep this powder from falling out on the floor.

Since the mortar is failing, and the brick wall with it, why not repoint and repair the wall? The not-quite-as-serious dust problem will be solved too.
