I'm looking at potentially buying a home for my family built in 1929.
I has the original US Radiator Corp boiler octopus and the pipes are wrapped with asbestos but have been professionally encapsulted with diplag.

My options if I buy the home (NOT doing this myself)
-
1. leave it alone, disturbing asbestos is the worst thing you can do.
2. professional asbestos abatement
3. asbestos abatement and new boiler
4. asbestos abatement, new boiler, decomission oil tank, convert to gas.
5. look for another home to buy.

I fugure it is highly likely that the boiler will need to be repaired or replaced when I am the new owner given that it is 73 yrs old.

any thoughts appreciated, also any price estimates for these options (2-4)???
thanks!!!
Garth
