Very new to this.
I have been using a furniture refinisher on doors from a 1900 Victorian home to remove the original reddish stain. The wood is possibly yellow pine and quite beautiful (I don't know my woods). I intend to finish with tung oil when I've got as much red out as I can using refinisher and steel wool. The process kicks up a lot of "dust" that I can't seem to get out of the corners of the detail. I know I need to get all this stuff off the wood before I apply the tung oil.
Here's my question: Can I use mineral spirits on a rag to wipe off the wood or will that interfere with the tung oil? Can I use the same thing between coats of the tung oil?
Thanks!

A BRASS bristle brush handled carefully will remove debris from most detail work without scratching the wood.
Mineral spirits (paint thinner) can be used to help the process. Allow the piece to dry overnight after cleaning. The paint thinner will have no effect on the tung oil application.
Another possibility is the aerosol cans of inert gas used to clean computer keyboards, etc. The wand they come with will let you put a lot of air pressure on a small spot.
