Hi, I was wondering what kind of flow rate is best for my HW boiler as I,m thinking of replacing the old circulators on my system. The piping is 1 inch, base board radiators. Should the flow rate be the same on the second floor as the first. I have a two zone system with two circulators. The water is pumped through the boiler at the bottom, mixed and then out the top. Also what is the best operating pressure for this system. There is about 16 feet of head to the top floor and 8 to the main floor. Thanks Dave

Your pressure should be about 12 to 18 (12 cold, 18 hot). If you are not getting any heat upstairs, you are probably low on water press and have air in system. Try getting about 20 or 25 psi water press then bleed your upstairs radiators first(farthest radiator from boiler first). Then after you are done bleeding, get the press back to 12 to 18. You might have a bad pressure reducing valve( valve that keeps your water press at 12psi)
