i have a lot of squealing noises coming from blower motor in attic .it is a coleman horizontal gas fired heating unit in attic.i have changed the belt, and still have the noise seems to be getting worse.is it the bearings in the motor??? says on the blower unit no lubrication required .what do i do???
the belt is not super tight, should i tighten like a car belt??

It is very difficult to explain how tight to make the belt. It is no where near as tight as a car belt. Grab the belt between the two pulleys, there should only be about 1/2" to 1" play when moving it up and down. Man this is tough to explain:) Hope this helps. However, take belt off and spin pulley on motor and then spin the other pulley by hand. See if you can hear which one is squeaking. It could be the bearing on the blower and not the motor. Yes it could also be the belt if its not tight enough.

i tightened belt ...and it is a new belt, seems to be better but every now and then still getting squeal....should i tighten a little more??? pretty tight now probably 1/2 inch of play ....definitely coming from blower side not the motor....dont really hear it when i spin pulley just when its running ...can the bearings be changed on this???and how would you do it???

IF: now I said IF it is the belt have you tried some belt dressing on it or just try some soap while it is running on the belt?;) It can be other things also.We do have some of the bearings go out on the blowers.Like the one's that say dont oil.Its all in how they work when they are new,the oilless bearing that is;) ED

I wouldn't tighten it any more. Too tight is worse than too loose. It sounds like the blower shaft bearings need replacing. If you let it go, it will either damage the shaft, or worse, the blower supports. I suggest you call a pro to do the work. It's not beyond a DIY, but if you've never done a job like this before, it would be difficult. Essentially, it boils down to removing the blower section from the furnace, completely disassembling it and reassembling with new bearings, and then re-installing the blower section.
