I have a spot about the size of a half dollar that is white (like bleach was spilled on it). Does anyone have any idea how to fix this or have any step by step instructions on how to patch it.

Thank you for any and all replies......................Jim:confused:

Acne creme medicine, will bleach out the carpet leaving just what you described.

I don't know about step by step, but here it goes...

Make sure the grain of the patch is running in the same direction as the carpet. Run a row down the grain on both sides of the stain

**To find the grain direction. Take a piece of notebook paper and lay it on the carpet, roll a pencil or pen back and forth, with a slight downward pressure on the paper. the paper will move in one direction. That is the way the grain falls. Also, if you have any area rugs on the carpet in a traffic area, and they are always moving, notice the direction it always moves, and you thought your house had a gravitational pull. That is the direction of the grain**

Now cut across the 2 row cuts you just made, right across your stain. The cuts should look like the letter H. Folding the carpet back, now use a framing square and Square it off. Do both flaps. The bigger the patch the easier it is for me, as I use my seaming iron to do the adhesion.

Now you have a square hole. Now take your piece to use as the patch, and basically do the same thing to make a square for your patch. (DON'T CUT THE "H" you did before when cutting out the stain!! Hehehehehe!)

Line the square hole with seam tape and as you make the patch have something flat, heavy and clean to place on top as you stick it in the hot melt glue. Be sure to not let the face yarns get down into the hotmelt tape, and don't turn the iron up too high or it will melt and distort the nylon carpet backing!!

With all that said, patching is an art. It is by far the hardest thing to do with carpet to make the patch invisible.

Why not try this stuff?
