Hello - i'm having a new home built and recently had the foundation walls completed in preparation for the house being set on it (the home is a modular). The wall is 8" thick poured concrete.
Well, my brother in-law has done some building and was looking at the wall prior to the house being set and he said we were going to have problems because the wall had “waves” in it at the top and was not level. I spoke with my builder about it and he said “they’re never perfectly level. It’ll be fine.” Well, yesterday they set the house and my brother-in-law was there (I wasn’t there – had to work) and he mentioned the uneven wall to the builder. The builder checked it and put in a long shim in one of the corners.
Now I’m worried that he wasn’t straight with me. Who’s right here? Should the top of that wall be perfect or is there always imperfections? And is this a matter of opinion, or a rule? Also, am in for lots of cracking due to settling now? And should I stop the works and get an inspector in there or something ? (The local building inspector was in before and said nothing about it.)
Thanks for your help.
