Where can I get stainless steel angle iron instead of the black iron for the brick support on my new home? And is this even feasable? I live with in a mile of the salt water and my older home (which was only 6 yrs old) Had lot of rust over the garage doors and the windows on the beams. I want to prevent this from happening this time. I am in the Houston Texas area. What are the dimensions of the iron? Is it like 3" x 5"? Thanks for all your replies....

You could look for steel distributers in the yellow pages, or a scrap yard if you have one locally ...but be prepared to pay the piper :) You could go galvanized steel a lot cheaper...
I notice our local brick place is also carrying a vinyl cover that slips over the regular steel lintel...white only I think.....
Size I use is typically about 4x4 unless a pretty good span, then maybe a 4x6, or go to thicker steel. Don't know what the typical lintel is, but I normally use 1/4" steel and don't have any problems.
