Does anyone have any opinions on sliding glass doors vs. french doors. We live in a bi-level and I would like to put doors in the lower level going out the back to what would eventually be either a deck or porch. I will have to cut an opening in the cinder block wall to put these doors in. Which would you choose and why?

Thanks, Mike

We once had two sets of triple-panel-wide sliding glass doors on our waterfront deck (unknown brand), which leaked air and water.
We replaced them with Andersen French door sets, because they look nicer, and are guaranteed not to leak with 60 mph wind/rain (actually built to withstand 100 mph, and they do).
Good Luck!
Mike

Marvin also makes a very nice french doors. I prefer the french doors to sliding glass doors because french doors open up and if you're having a party it really opens the outside to the inside.

Are the doors going to open in or out - ya got to plan to leave room to open the doors.

Thanks for the opioions! Looks like french doors is the way to go. I kind of like the ones that open to the outside, but I'm wondering about moisture/water getting inside. I thought that was why all (I guess I should say most) outside doors opened in was because of the stop being on the outside and covering the space above the door.
