I've applied tung oil to a wood divider. The divider was clean and prepped. It was stained. I'm trying to buff the wood with a lint free cloth. It's sticky. Does it just take a long time to buff? How long should it take to get rid of the stickiness? Thanks for your help.

All of the tung oils with which I am familiar are a 'wipe on, wipe off' application. Did the instructions say to apply, wait a certain period of time, then wipe clean?

If so, did you follow instructions?

If the tung oil remains tacky more than 24 hours, it was an old product and/or was improperly applied, or the underlying stain hadn't completely dried.

Wipe the tacky off with a rag dampened with paint thinner, and try again.
