I have an older speed queen propane dryer and the pilot light works but the burners won't come on. when I start the dryer it tumbles but no heat.

A pilot flame, or a glow coil style ignition?
Some common things to check and test can be found from below.....

With any dryer problem cleaning the venting and venthood is always a good idea.

Hello canadawest. Welcome to my Gas Appliances forum and our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.
If the dryer has a constant burning "always on" pilot flame, the safety element the pilot flame is heating may be defective.
HINT: If your dryer has a red lever handle that has to be held back or down to lite the pilot flame, it has a constant burning pilot flame and a fluid safety element.
In most cases but not all cases, a defective fluid safety element does not allow the pilot light to remain on. In those cases where it does, the condition your describing, it is commonly found to be a defective safety element.
Another possible or likely problem to cause the condition is a defective timer control and or other heat selection control selection located on the front control panel.
If the dryer has a glow coil ignition system, the problem and it's solution can be found in almost any dryer topic with the same title as your topic. Check the other questions and replies posted in them.
Suggestion:
Retail parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers if you stop in at the store. The info will help to determine the exact parts used in the model assembly line run and possible problem causes.
DRYER SERVICE TIP:
It's always adviseable to clean the entire exhaust venting system every 2 years and or during any dryer maintenance and or repairs.

It is a flame pilot and the dryer is about 15 years old and commercial.

Knowing that the pilot is a constant burning "Always On" pilot, then the solution to the problem can be determined by the information already provided and that which is contained within the other dryer does not heat postings located within this forum.
I would suggest you start first with the safetly element. You may choose to remove the entire burner assembly and have the local appliance parts store test the unit.
