Question:

My house is 56 years of age. The walls are of stucco. A week ago I had a painter come over to do some relatively minor repair work on the house-a couple big cracks between the new and old parts of the house, plus a hairline crack on a section of another wall.

1. When I showed him the hairline crack on another part of the house, he said not to be concerned with it. Is this answer not odd? What concerns me is that what if water seeps into that hairline crack when it rains? Then what?

2. On one of the areas that was recently repair, I noticed a new crack that runs about 18". Should I not be concerned about that too? The one thing I don't need happening is water/moisture seeping inside the walls and causing mold to form, etc.
