I have a Tappan Cooktop which was hooked up to Liquid Propane. I converted it to Natural Gas and the burners do work!! The one problem I am having is that NONE of the automatic Ignitions work for any of the burners. There used to be a click and then an ignition but now nothing at all. I checked the wires and all the connections but still nothing.
Is there something that has to be changed when switching to Natural? How do I check this ignition out? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards
Chuck

Hello chas13 and Welcome to our Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances forum.
The fuel conversion should not have effected the sparking of the sparkers. The sparkers should still be working, if there is electrical power to the stove, all the wires are connected and correctly connected, continuity through the control switches to and out of the control module, chances are the module simply burned out or the fuse is burned out.
Retail parts dealers can help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers, suspected defective parts and stop in at the store. The info will help to determine the possible problem causes. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.
Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers instructional or owners manual & online web sites for product information, problem possibilities, causes and solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair proceedures, and instructions, pictorials and schematics, which may be available online.
An excellent source for orginal replacement parts is your local retail appliance parts store. Appliance parts dealers test parts and carry replacement parts for all appliances. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.
Read the prior topics, within this forum, on this subject of stove top sparkers and the replies offered. I'm sure you'll locate the exact symptom and the correctional possibility.

As Tom has stated, the gas supply should have nothing to do with the ignition system. An electronic ignition system is totally electric.
First make sure you have power to the appliance (eg. didn't pull the house fuse or unplug the unit before service). If you're getting power to the spark module but it's not firing, it is defective and will likely need to be replaced. If you are not getting power to it, you'll have to trace the wiring to the module to see where it stops.
