Hello Bubb and Welcome to our Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances forum.
There could be one or two of several reasons for the problem description your describing. Many of the possible reasons can be found in the previous postings on this topic of ovens.
For starter ideas, it could be an incorrect setting of one of the control selections on the front panels control selections. The thermostat could be out of adjustment or lost much of it's ability to control the temperature.
Replacing a thermostat as a do-it-yourself project may or may not be an easy task on some models. Thermostats that are purchased over the counter and self installed are not returnable and may not be warrantied by some dealers.
The one item you can check is the capillary tube. That's the heat sensing tube located in the oven compartment. It should be suspended by 2 clips, not bent or damage and not touching anything except the 2 clips.
When an oven fails to maintain the desired set temperature, does not reach the set temperature, etc, before any parts are replaced, I suggest you have the thermostat checked for calibration. If the thermostat needs a recalibration, this is NOT a do-it-yourself project.
Special tools, training, practice, proceedure and experience are needed along with the proper technique and adjustments made in the correct sequence in order to successully accomplish the task. Done incorrectly, as a do-it-yourself task, can ruin an otherwise good thermostat that only needed an adjustment...:(
I highly suggest you either contact the gas utility company and inquire if they perform this service. If they do not provide this service, contact the local appliance service dealer listed in the phone book.
Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, problem solving methods, disassembly instructions, repair proceedures, pictorials and schematics, may be available online.
An excellent source for orginal replacement parts is your local retail appliance parts store. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances. Bring the make, model and serial numbers if you stop in at the store.
Read the prior topics, within this forum, on this subject of ovens/ranges and or stoves and the replies offered. I'm sure you'll locate the exact symptom and the correctional possibility.
If you need further assistance, use the REPLY button. By doing so, the additional information you add or questions you may have, will remain within this posting. Using this method also moves the topic back up to the top of the list automatically.
