I am planning to pull the shower stall out of my bathroom and am hoping to build my own shower base, and tile the walls.

The current setup is a small space, with an even smaller shower stall and self-supporting base. I think I have a pic of it when I was trying to fix the floor beneath it. I have had nothing but trouble with it, and would like to use the entire space for the shower. Using tile for the walls, and a standard shower curtain instead of a prefab structure. They don't make tubs or showers that size, and would prefer not to have a custom one made.

The darker area to the left is where vinyl squares were, but not the shower.

I am hoping that someone will have a link or three so I can see what all is involved (floor prep, building the base, wallboard replacement, etc) before I even begin the project. While at it I will also be adding an exhaust fan/light combo since the wallboard will have to be replaced with a more suitable material and I will have access to the wiring, etc.

Thank you for any help.

Kay

kaybyrd,

Hopefully the links below will address your shower installation - one on concrete floor the over on wood. They should help!
