Redoing bathroom; removed old tub surround to replace with new one. Lot of the cover-paper on drywall came off with glue. Can I just paint it with Kilz or another good primer or must it be replaced?? Looking for easiest/cheapest; but don't want it coming loose in few years! Ideas??

Bob Burroughs,
If we are talking about a very flexible wall kit, I would suggest replacement since it would be faster than applying a skim coat over it. You really need a flat surface for these. If you are installing a more rigid type wall kit, you might get away with priming and then install but I doubt it.
Odds are replacement with green board is the best choice due to the adhesive that you have to apply and the divits will cause problems if not be seen once it is up.
Do it right the first time and then you don't have to do it again!
Good Luck!
