I have a Crestline garden window that will replace a casement window in the kitchen. The old window appears to be attatched to the exterior of the house with a flange. That is there is a strip of tin or aluminum attatched to the window that is nailed to the window framing in the house.
The garden window has no flange or mounting tabs. The inside of the window that would fit against the 2x6 constructed window frame on the house is nice oak piece. It appears to me that the only way to install this and give this behemoth enough structural integrity is to screw or nail right though this windows frame.
Does this sound right ???

That would leave me with holes to putty or do I frame over this interior wood again with more oak ??
