I just screwed home 2 new corner beads on my upstairs bedroom that appeared to never have them before, so the corners were all beat up. So far I applied to layers of mud to the beads and it is coming along well. (The corners look much more uniform).
My question is: The edge is still showing through the corner, how can they be covered up so I do not paint a thin line of metal? Lots of more mud? Thanks. Peace: e3 - spamman

You paint a thin line of metal - the metal edge is to prevent exactly the damage you are trying to repair - chipping the corner. At least this is always what I have done. If the bead is applied straight to the corner, the bead should protrude slightly beyond both walls. You use it as a guide to feather out the mud 12 inches or so from the corner in each direction. Final sanding on the precise corner knocks of any buggers and you have a nice clean metal edge with a slight radius.

It is looking real straight so i can imagine the edge will look tight. If you actually paint the thin line of metal, I am going to assume the primer will make the paint adhere to the metal well? Is there another type of paint or primer material that makes it bond well to the metal? Thanks again. peace: e3 - spamman

All I've ever done is covered it with the drywall primer and then the finish coats - never had any peeling.
