I'm helping a friend install peephole in steel door.
If I use a regular twist bit, will it distort the metal when I drill through and it pulls? will using something like a step bit fix this problem?
Thx.

A better bet would be a bi-metal hole saw if you can find one of the proper diameter. Would eliminate the likelihood of distortion when going through. Also with the hole saw, when the pilot bit comes through the second side you can switch to that side to finish the hole so that the rough edge of the hole will be on the inside of the door skin on both sides.
