My circular saw finally gave up the ghost. I have had it for many, many years, and now I am not familiar with what's new on the market.

What are the feelings out there. I would like to get one that lasts and performs the best.

Appreciate the help.

Are you talking $100+ professional 15amp circ-saws? Wood magazine 04/2002 came out with the Milwaukee 6390 and Dewalt 369 as the top two.
I have the Dewalt 369 and I recommend it – 15amp, lightweight, and electric brake as my top criteria.
The lefty Porter-Cable 743 is also a favorite among right-handers, as the blade is visible from the left of the blade (that benefit can be argued among right-handers).
Some will point out the Skil wormdrives. Well, heft one and how does that benefit the typical homeuser.
Good luck.
