I'm about to begin a large remodel on a small bathroom --just 4' by 8' and want to put in a pedestal sink. However, the supply and drain pipes go through the floor instead of the wall as I've seen in every illustration and how-to article I've found.
Is it possible to still do the pedestal sink with the floor pipes? I'd rather not reroute them through the wall if possible.

kathrynakr,
In regards to your existing plumbing, is the location of the pipes accomodating your pedistal without them being moved? Without being highly visible by all?
Depending on the brand of pedistal, not all have a void from top to bottom, some prevent drain lines from being enclosed within the base stand so the drain lines would have to installed just behind the base.
Again, issues of relocating the plumbing may have to be done based on what you purchase. Water supply lines should be 4" apart to minimize visibility and enhance the overall appearance.
Based on what you buy will determine what path of installation you will have to do. Based upon the existing conditions and the ease of replumbing will also determine your purchase.
Hope this helps!

You'll probably have to re-plumb to make it look right.
Here is an illustrated how-to article on re-plumbing for a pedestal sink from Reader's Digest "The Family Handyman" magazine that may help you:

Good Luck!
