I have seen the suggestions on how to fix the cracks. My question is that the texture is almost like sand. How can I try to get the same texture?

There is a product at Home Depot that is a sand additive. You can add it to paint to give it that texture. Pop in and ask if you can use it for your application. You will find it in the paint department.
