How does one go about installing surface mounted lights in a drop ceiling?
I am installing a drop ceiling. The majority of the lighting will be recessed cans, but I have a few places I would like to or need to put in surface mounted stuff. For instance in the bathroom area I need to put in an exhaust fan/light combo unit.
Do I need to build a support frame that attaches to the ceiling joists? How do I mount the light to the frame if I do this?
Lots of details would be helpful ... thanks.

Most of your can fixtures can be adated wot a drop ceiling by using support rods that should be avalkiablt for them. As far a s regular fixtures, attach a regular ceiling box to a lenght of 2x4 and use that to span across the runners. Might also want to run some additional hanging wires at those locations.
