After letting the unit sit and cool for a while [an hour or so] turn it on and stick a ruler down thru the grille and try turning the fan blade. If nothing happens, you're either not getting power to the motor or it's smoked. Follow the wires back to the capacitor and the contactor and see if any are bunrt off. If the motor takes off, then you probably have a bad capacitor. Search thru some recent posts for some discussions on how to replace capacitors. If the you have a lot of resistance to turning the blade, the internal spacers inside the motor are worn out. Again, search thru the posts for discussions on how to replace the motor. Remember our rule- new motor, new capacitor. Let us know what you find.

I checked the fan blades like you instructed and there is no resistance. The wires are not burnt, I just replaced the cap. and the fan started great but it only run about 5mi. then it sropped. yesterday I spoke to the person who intalled the unit 5 years ago and he suggested that i put 2 drops of 30w oil in the motor plugs, which i did.
