The blower motor does work but it doesn't always start. If I help it get started it seems to run fine. I'm hoping just a clean and lube will fix it up. If I could just figure out how to get to it or how to get it out of the unit to work it over. It seems that the relief box is in the way. Does the come out easily or should I call the local dealer?

The blower housng is on rails and will slide right out the front after a copule screws that hold it in place are removed. This reelief box- does it look like something that water from inside the furnace drains into? Is this a gas furnace with plastic flue pipe?

may have a bad capacitor, this gives it a "kick" to get it started it is a barrel or oval component that the wires from the motor go to......usually brown wires, it has 2 terminals on the end. do you have a multimeter, if so we can check it.

Thanks for gettin' back to me Big John. To answer your question yes it is a gas furnace. A Carrier model 58RAV downflow horizontal gas furnace. I could send you a picture of it but it's probably easier for you to check out thier websight if needed. The upflow furnace looks like you could slide out the blower motor like you say. However, the downflow furnace has this stupid relief box in the way. I'm pretty sure the motor just needs a clean and lube if I could just get to it. Thier web address is www.carrier.com.
It doesn"t look like water flows to it but it is connected to the exhaust vent.

You probably mean downflow, vertical. A downflow furnace would be an upright whereas a horizantal furnace lays on it's side. The relief box you refer to must be part of the flue. It may have to be dismantled to get it out of the way. Can you send a couple pictures? Maybe we can get a better look at it?
