Hello, Are there any free diagrams of how to replace the drum wheel of my gas dryer. I would like to know what is involved in repairing my dryer before I make any attempts to pull apart and fix.

Hello GHanson. Welcome to my Gas Appliances forum and our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

I think your referring to the rear drum roller wheels. If so, there should be 2. 1 on each side. You shouldn't need any pictures or diagrams. These parts can easily be removed without special tools etc.

Once you access the inside cabinet of the dryer, from the rear remove the belt but only from the pulley arm, if possible. The reason is to allow slack so the belt can be slipped off the drum.

If you have to totally remove the belt, make a hand drawing of how the belt loops over and under each pulley before removing it entirely. Do the same for all the wire connections. Doing so allows for easy reassembly.

The wheels {Rollers} will have clips or pins which can be removed with needle nose pliers. There are or may also be brass or bronze bushings on the roller stems that the wheels attach to.

Replacement is a reversal of the removal process. I suggest you also inspect the belt. Replace if needed or there is any doubt about it's condition.

If your referring to a rear drum bearing, remove belt and drum, use socket wrench to remove the securing bolts on the bearing and install the new part or parts. However, be advised. Not all dryers use rear bearings, so your appliance may not have them.

Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair proceedures and instructions, pictorials and schematics, which may be available online.

An excellent source for orginal replacement parts is your local retail appliance parts store. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book. Bring the make, model and serial numbers if you stop in at the store. The info will help to determine the exact parts used in the model assembly line run.

If you need further assistance, use the REPLY button. By doing so, the additional information you add or questions you may have, will remain within this posting. Using this method also moves the topic back up to the top of the list automatically.

The electric appliance topic moderator can offer you pictures if you still think they would be helpful. Post this request in that forum topic.

DRYER SERVICE TIP:
It's always adviseable to clean the entire exhaust venting system every 2 years and or during any dryer maintenance and or repairs.

Thanks..
Got the job done. Dryer works as good as new. No more rumbling.. Seems to be more quite than before. I guess the bearing in the wheel was bad for some time before it gave all the way. Also vacuumed all lint out of cabinet and replaced vent. I think it is even drying the clothes faster.

Thanks for great site!!
