I want to paint over paneling that has an almost oilcloth covering l/2 way down wall. The rest of wall if smooth paneling. I think I want something textured because there is @l/8" difference in paneling. Is now covered with nice piece of trim, which I can reuse. Need Help.

can you tell us if there is wallboard/sheetrock under the paneling?
